This is the second solo exhibition by hair designer and artist Lee Bok Ja. At Yeon Gallery she showcases her hairstyling skills through 25 designs from the Goryeo to Joseon eras. The hairstyles were produced by researching historical Korean paintings to recreate the styles of the times.

Lee received a number of awards for her first exhibition last year, winning in creative style categories. She has also been awarded gongs at the World Hair Championships, Skill Olympics, and more, between 1998 - 2010.

Lee also portrays gisaeng-turned-merchant, Kim Man Deok. A Joseon-era Jeju native, Kim donated her wealth to save local people during a time of famine on the island and is a local and national hero. Lee reproduces her image, drawing on her knowledge of Joseon-era hairstyles.

Lee’s exhibition runs until March 5.

Location: Yeon Gallery, 2nd floor of the building, 680-4, Ido 2-dong, Jeju City
